Medical form: The solution.
Composition:
Active substance: Iodine – 5g.
Aiding substances: Potassium iodide 2g, ethanol 95 % and distilled water with equal amount before getting 100ml solution.

Description: Transparent, brown-red liquid, typical smell.
Pharmacological operation: Iodine is used as antiseptic and bactericidal agent for treatment of tissue and purulent inflammatory diseases of mucous tunic. Above stated pharmacological operation is based on iodamine formation ability as a result of proteins’ coagulation. As local irritating agent, iodine is used for treatment of myositis and neuralgia. Inside reception of iodine operates on the metabolism.
Its impact is especially expressed on the function of thyroid gland. Iodine also affects on proteinaceous and lipidic exchange, reduces level of cholesterol in blood.
Pharmacokinetics: Iodine is excreted from the organism through kidneys (mainly), intestines, sudoriferous and mammary glands gland.
Indications: Outwardly:
• At time of wounds, microtraumas, bruises;
• For processing of operational zone;
• At time of myositis and neuralgia;
• At time of inflammatory infiltrates;
• At time of ozena.
For intake:
• For prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis;
• At time of syphilis (tertiary);
• At time of hyperthyroidism, endemic goiter;
• At time of poisoning with mercury and lead.
Order of intake and dosage:
Outwardly.
It is used as antiseptic and local irritating means for applying on the damaged and painful sites of the skin.
Peroral.
Solution iodine alcohol is taken after eating together with milk!
For the purpose of prevention of atherosclerosis is prescribed 1-10 drops solution 1-2 times in a day within 30 days (it is necessary to repeat a course 2-3 times a year). For the purpose of atherosclerosis treatment –10-12 drops 3 times in a day, in case of syphilis 5-50 drops 2-3 times in a day.
In case of internal intake the highest single dose for adults makes 20 drops, the highest daily dose – 60 drops.
For children – 3-5 drops 2-3 times in a day. It isn't prescribed for children up to 5 years.
Overdose: At inhalation of steam of iodine is noted damage of the upper air system (burning, a laringo- bronchismus), if concentrated solution of iodine gets inside, there develop a hard burn of digestion system, hemolysis, lethal dose makes up– 3.0 g.
Treatment: gastric lavage by 0,5% solution of sodium thiosulfate, 30% solution of sodium thiosulfate is entered parenteral up to 300 ml.
Side effects: Iodism (rhinitis, rash on skin, nettle-rash, salivation, lacrimation, etc.).
Contraindications: Individual intolerance toward iodine.
In case of intake – pulmonary tuberculosis, nephrite, furunculosis, acne, nettle-rash, chronic piodermiya, hemorrhagic diathesis, pregnancy, children's age up to 5 years.
Safety measures: When using preparation together with yellow mercury ointment in lachrymal liquid can be formed mercury iodide which has cauterizing action.
Package: 10ml in a dark orange glass or polymer material vials.
Interaction with other preparations: Iodine pharmaceutical is incompatible with essential oils, ammoniac solution, white sedimentary mercury (the explosive mix is formed).
Iodine reduces hypothyroid and strumogenic action of lithium preparations.
Order of issue: III group pharmaceutical product-protrudes without the recipe.
Shelf life: 3 years.
Storage conditions: Store not more than 25ºC, in a dark place.
In case of visual defects and expiry of validity date, the preparation can not be used.
