Streptocid 300mg #10 tab
Sulfanilamide

Generic  name: Streptocide.
ATС Code: J01E В06.
Drug form: Tablets.
Chemical name: p-aminobenzolsulfonamid
Pharmacological group:
Short-acting sulfanilamide.
Composition:
One tablet contains 0, 3 g of Streptocide;
Aiding substance: glucose, starch, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyethyleneglycol, calcium or magnesium stearate.
Pharmacological operation:
In a type of competitive antagonism with p-amino-benzoic acid, Streptocide causes blocking of folic acid synthesis in microbial cells that suppresses growth and development of microorganisms (bacteriostatic effect).
Streptocide acts bacteriostatic toward streptococcus, meningococcus, gonococcus, colon bacillus and other microorganisms.
Pharmacodynamics:
The preparation is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Maximum concentration of Streptocide in blood is reached in 1-2 hours, and after 4 hours gets into cerebrospinal fluid, 95% of the preparation is excreted through the kidneys.
Indication:
• Prevention and treatment of wounding infections, sore, decubital;
• Angina;
• Enterocolitis;
• Pyelonephritis, pyelitis, cystitis;
• Erysipelas;
• Other infectious diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to Streptocide.
Contraindications:
• Hypersensitivity toward sulfanamide means;
• Blood formation system diseases;
•  Nephrosis, nephritis;
• Basedow's disease;
• Acute hepatitis;
• Pregnancy and lactation period;
• Age till 2 years.
Order of intake and dosage: Peroral intake.
Adult:   2 –   4 tablets 5 times in a day (daily dose 3 - 6 g); 
Children from 2 till 6 years:   1 tablet once in a day.
Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 – 2 tablets once in a day.
Side effects:
At time of Streptocide intake there may develop: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, a headache, cyanosis. At long reception in big doses there may develop leucocytopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, tachycardia, paresthesia, dermatitis, diarrhea, cholestasis. Urination system complications (crystalluria, hematuria, shock kidney with anuria) can seldom develop.
Special instructions:
At long treatment by Streptocide it is necessary to do blood analysis periodically, also kidneys and liver function control. Uuntimely termination or insufficient doses prescription of the preparation can promote stability increase of microorganisms toward sulfanilamide. 
Pregnancy and lactation:
Streptocide intake at time of pregnancy and lactation is forbidden.
Interaction with other  medicines: 
It isn't recommended to prescribe Streptocide together with novocaine or other remedies of the same chemical structure, which contain the rest of p-amino-benzoic acid and can cause antisulfanilamide effect.
Overdose:
At time of overdose there may develop nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness and cyanosis. 
Treatment: In case of overdose gastric lavage is necessary by 2% solution of sodium hydrocarbonate, suspension of activated carbon or other enterosorbents. Artificial diuresis, hemodialysis is recommended.
Package: 10 tablets on polyvinyl chloride blister.
Order of issue: Pharmaceutical product group III- issued without a doctor's prescription.
Validity: 5 years.
Storage conditions: Store on 15-25ºC temperature in a dark, dry place and keep away from children.
In case of visual defects and expiry of validity date, the preparation can not be used.
