Phitolax #20 tab
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Laxative agent.
Composition: Active substance: Dry extract of Phytolax – 0,25 gram
(Is made on the base of senna leaves, cortex of rhamnus and liquorices roots); Aiding
substances: magnesium carbonate, calcium stearate, starch, polyvinylpyrrolidone,
saccharose; aerosil, titanium dioxide, green color.
Dry extract of Phytolax compounds from
anthraglycosides: emodyn, criosphinx acid, glucofrangulin and etc, also
saponins glycyrrhizin.
Pharmacological operation: By the subjection of intestine enzyme and bacteria
is implemented hydrolysis of anthraglycosides and saponins. The formed products
strengthen colonic propulsion; it doesn’t irritate intestine mucous cover.
Because of hydrolysis’ slow process, laxative effect is developed only in
colonic propulsion after 8-10 hours from taking the pill; composition of
liquorices saponins in the preparation gives anti-inflammation, intestine
mucous cover protective, spasmolytic operation.
Indication:
· Spastic colitis;
· Atonic
constipation;
· Hemorrhoids
(for regulation of intestine);
· Clefts of
rectum.
The
preparation is recommended at time of chronic constipation that is
frequently
characterized for sitting persons.
Administration and dosage rule: 1 or 2 tablet in the evening before sleep.
Longterm usage of the medicine causes adaptation, so
it is necessary to increase the dose or alternate with different laxative preparation periodically.
Side effects: Taking the preparation for a long time may cause:
· Intensified
hyperemia of little pelvic organs;
· Hypokalemia,
demineralization (that is why, it is preferable to take potassium containing
preparation or potassium enriched food for restoring the balance);
· In
pregnant women it may cause miscarriage.
Special indications: You should begin taking preparation with one tablet
a day, increase of dose till 2 tablet in a day is desirable in case of
insufficient effect.
If there reveals side effects during taking preparation,
you should contact with the doctor for symptomatic treatment.
Overdosage: Overdose can cause discomfort in the abdomen, tenesme,
vomiting and diarrhea.
Treatment is symptomatic.
Contra-indication:
· Additional sensitivity towards the component of the
preparation;
· Intestine
impassability;
· Pregnancy;
· Menstruation.
Pregnancy and lactation period: The drug is not recommended
during pregnancy and lactation period.
Interecation with other treating preparations: No data
available.
Effects on ability to drive and use machines: No effect
on control of vehicles and other machinery.
Production form: 10 tablets on the blister, 2 blisters in the box.
Storage conditions: Store at 15-25ºC temperature in a dark, dry place
and keep away from children.
It is forbidden to use the preparation after the term
expires or having defects after the visual inspection.
Shelf-life: 3 years.
